Electronic Journals

The University of Illinois at Chicago Library continues to negotiate with publishers and vendors to acquire more online, full-text, electronic journals. Soon to be announced will be the long-awaited Elsevier ScienceDirect, which will give us electronic access to all of the Elsevier journals. We, also, will be announcing a database that will provide all of the Blackwell Science/Munksgaard journals. For those of you that have been asking about JSTOR, we hope to have all approvals in place in the near future. In addition to these large groups of journals, we continue to add to the OCLC FirstSearch Electronic Collections Online (ECO) database and individual titles that are not part of any of the larger aggregators.

From the History Cooperative we now have access to American Historical Review and Journal of American History. The American Historical Review can be found at http://www.historycooperative.org/ahrindex.html and the Journal of American History at http://www.historycooperative.org/jahindex.html . The journal, Organic Letters, is now available at http://pubs.acs.org/journals/orlef7/index.html ; The Journal of the American Ceramic Society Online at http://www.ceramicjournal.org ; and Optical Engineering Online at http://ojps.aip.org/journals/doc/OPEGAR-home/index.html .

As with all electronic journals, you can locate them on the Library's homepage at http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib by clicking on A-Z Indexes to Databases and then to the alphabetical list of Electronic Journals and Newspapers. As the titles are cataloged into UICCAT you will be able to click onto the URL in the WEB version of UICCAT and go directly to the journal. In order to provide access as quickly as possible, all titles are listed in the Library Homepage before they are fully cataloged into UICCAT.
