Grove Dictionary of Art Online
The UIC Library is pleased to announce that the Grove Dictionary of Art Online is now available to UIC faculty, students, and staff. This is an unrivalled reference source that contains 45,000 articles on every aspect of the visual arts-painting, sculpture, graphic arts, architecture, decorative arts and photography-from prehistory to the present day. It took 15 years to compile and represents the work of more than 6,800 scholars from around the world.Included in this comprehensive reference work are 20,000 artist biographies; 2,000 biographies of patrons, collectors, agents and dealers; articles from 1,300 critics and theorists; articles on cultures and civilizations; articles on every country recognized by the United Nations; 1,350 articles on towns and cities; 500 articles on artistic styles and movements; articles on major art forms; 600 articles on conservation; 500,000 bibliographic citations; 86,000 cross-references; and 720,000 index entries.
Access to the online edition of the Art Newspaper is included as well as access to 200,000 images from the Bridgeman Art Library and more than 30,000 external image links.
