ScienceDirect

ScienceDirect, a product from Elsevier Publishing, is now fully available to UIC Faculty, Students, and Staff. It has been in process for a few months as we fine-tuned the list of journals. This database is a collection of over 900 full-text electronic journals published by Elsevier, CRC, ASM International, and the Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society. UIC users have unlimited access to those journals for which we maintain a paper subscription, which are indicated in the database as subscribed journals and are marked with a green box in the title list. For the remaining journals for which we do not have a paper subscription, we have access to a limited number of full-text articles per year.

ScienceDirect permits searching all journals or just journals in a particular subject area. You may browse the tables of contents of each journal. This database covers science, engineering, medicine, and business and economics. It is a growing database with new journals being added on a regular basis. The Library is analyzing the use statistics of each journal and reallocating subscriptions so that more titles will have unlimited access.

ScienceDirect can be found in the alphabetical list of electronic resources on the Library's homepage at http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/ or directly at http://www.sciencedirect.com/ . The alphabetical list of electronic journals found on the Library's homepage includes the subscribed journals that are marked with a green box in ScienceDirect. The Web version of UICCAT, also, has a hot-link URL for each of these titles, on which you may click and go directly to the journal in ScienceDirect.
