UIC now has access to all of the JSTOR titles that have been digitized to date. JSTOR (Journal Storage) contains fully searchable back issues of scholarly journals. JSTOR's goal is the "creation and maintenance of a trusted archival repository; and enhanced and more convenient access to older journal materials." There are now over 200 full-text titles available, with one title beginning with 1665, and most active titles complete through 1995 or 1996, some through 2000. To see a complete list of all titles and years covered, go to http://www.jstor.org/about/alpha.content.html. This database of scholarly journals permits you to browse the titles from a workstation in your office or at home, 24/7.

With these titles available electronically and the Library facing an extreme shortage of shelf space in the Library, we are investigating the possibility of placing the corresponding print volumes in storage. We would appreciate any comments from you concerning this possibility.

qUICsearch

The Library is pleased to offer a new resource, qUICsearch, that is a joint effort between the UIC Library and a company called Webfeat. This unique tool allows searching of multiple online article indexes and other electronic resources with a single query rather than a separate query for each database.

To use qUICsearch, follow these steps:

1. Click on qUICsearch on the Resources page of the Library's homepage http://www.uic.edu/depts/lib/ or go to the direct URL at http://quicsearch.lib.uic.edu/.

2. Choose one of the broad subject areas: Arts & Humanities, Social & Behavioral Science, Medicine, Science & Technology, or Multidisciplinary Studies.

3. From the selected subject area, choose one of the narrower subject areas.

4. A list of databases will now appear that relates to the subject area that you selected, including some full text databases. Select one or as many databases as you want to search.

5. Key in your search query and click on the search button. All of the databases that you selected will be searched simultaneously. The results of your query will appear, grouped by database.

Wiley/Interscience Electronic Journals

The Library is pleased to announce that we now have access to the full-text of the current issues of all Wiley/Interscience journals, regardless of whether or not we have the print counterpart. This is a new resource not yet listed on the Library's homepage, pending completion of required license review. Once the license is approved, all 430 titles that are published by Wiley/Interscience will be listed on the alphabetical list of electronic journals. Until then, you may preview this database at http://www.interscience.wiley.com/ where you will find a Journal Search button that will permit you to search across all of the journals. Another Journal Finder button provides you an alphabetical list of all journals published by Wiley/Interscience, giving access to individual issues of each journal.
