Overview of NLM Databases
PubMed is the National Library of Medicine's interface for the MEDLINE database. It offers features and coverage that go beyond other, commercially available MEDLINE products. Everything contained in MEDLINE can be found on PubMed, but there is some information in PubMed that goes beyond the scope of MEDLINE. PubMed also has sophisticated search features like a Medical Subject Headings [MeSH] Browser, a Journal Browser, a Clinical Queries search filter, and a Citation Matcher. Frequently run searches can be stored in PubMed's Cubby, and available fulltext articles can be found with PubMed's Linkout feature.

ClinicalTrials.gov provides patients, family members, health
care professionals, and members of the public easy access to information
on clinical trials for a wide range of diseases and conditions. The U.S.
National Institutes of Health (NIH), through its National Library of Medicine
(NLM), has developed this site in collaboration with all NIH Institutes and
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The site was launched in February 2000 and currently contains approximately
5,800 clinical studies sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, other
Federal agencies, and the pharmaceutical industry in over 64,000 locations worldwide.
Studies listed in the database are conducted primarily in the United States
and Canada, but include locations in about 70 countries. ClinicalTrials.gov
receives over about 2 million page views per month and hosts approximately 7,200
visitors daily.

The NLM Gateway is a Web-based system that lets users search simultaneously in multiple retrieval systems at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). It allows users of NLM services to initiate searches from one Web interface, providing "one-stop searching" for many of NLM's information resources or databases... One target audience for the Gateway is the Internet user who is new to NLM's online resources and does not know what information is available there or how best to search for it.
