Document Delivery Service

Participants in the Chicago Urban Health Outreach Project are entitled to free delivery of journal articles for the duration of the project. Articles should be requested through Loansome Doc, the document ordering service that allows users to request copies of articles from citations retrieved in a PubMed search.

The user tags the desired articles in PubMed and the ordering process electronically uploads this information to the UIC library. The library will then copy the article, if available, or electronically transfer the request to another appropriate network library.

The UIC Library of the Health Sciences will take action on all Loansome Doc requests within twenty-four hours on weekdays; requests received on weekends and holidays will be acted on the next working day. If the item requested is not held in the LHS collection, the user has the option of directing that LHS refer the request to another institution. Referred requests may take up to 10 days to be filled.

Articles may be picked up in the Library, delivered via U.S. mail, or via Fax.

Registration Instructions
Registering for free Loansome Doc articles through CUHOP is a two step process. The first step will register you locally and insure the costs are absorbed by CUHOP; the second step will register you with the National library and allow you to access the ordering system. Please follow the instructions carefully. Skipping part of the process could result in a personal bill for articles, and you may be held responsible.
