This is the database preserving the archives of the Midwest Chapter, Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA MWC). The database is to preserve the committee’s work from getting lost, to provide an easy access for CALA-MW Chapter members, the library/Chinese community, and the general public to the Chapter historical work.

The initiative of archiving the Chapter’s documents starts at the beginning of 1990s. The paper archives have been deposited to Ethnic Studies Library of University of California at Berkeley in 1999 by the 1999/2000 Archives Special Task Force consisted of Marian Chou, Pei-ling Wu and Susan Tsui which has established the fine base for archiving the Chapter’s history.

This site is initiated by Li Fu and Lisa Zhao in 2004 funded by Sally C. Tseng’s grant and supported by the Board of the Chapter. It is still in its progress of construction. The site is built by, as its print-version archives, following the Chapter’s Archive Guideline. Current contents of the site mostly are Chapter’s archive since 1999 on. The archives before 1999 are on paper and saved in the Ethnic Studies Library of University of California at Berkeley, and will be added in to this database gradually.

In this site you can find the Chapter’s officers, events and documents in the past years. Only CALA members can enter this site and search. You can contact us at xxxxx if you need to enter the site for research purposes without membership.
