The "Gh. Asachi" Public Library is an active cultural institution. Its activities are largely made known through mass-media, integrating the library into the cultural life of Iasi. We will just mention a few of the types of programmes hosted:
book exhibitions
- art exhibitions
- book presentations
- scientific roundtables (concerning culture, history, and even other fields)
- bibliological roundtables
- conferences
- symposia (national and international)
- workshops (national and international)
Some specific activities that are regularly held at the Gh. Asachi Public Library include:
- "Eminesciana" (every January and June) is dedicated to Mihai Eminescu, the Romanian national poet.
- "Gh. Asachi" Library Days: Annual Symposium of the "Gh. Asachi" Public Library (in October), art & book exhibitions, book presentations, and professional meetings;
- Christian activities on some occasions such as Easter and Christmas days, etc.
- "The Childhood Lectures" - cultural activity for children (includes readings, plays, book presentations for children, etc.)
- Activities related to some historical events or holidays such as Romania's day (December 1), Union day (January 24), etc.
