The Central Illinois Teachers' Exchange (CITE) was created out of the University of Illinois' belief that the Internet is a very powerful education tool and our commitment to integrating new technology into education.

* Chicago Foundation for Education Home Page
Since 1985, the organization's concern has centered on the needs of students in the Chicago Public Elementary schools. The Chicago Foundation for Education focuses on opportunities to improve the quality of education in the classroom. It develops and implements programs that directly influence classroom instruction by offering a range of resources and options to students and teachers.

* Illinois Accelerated Schools Initative
During the 1996-97 school year, 37 schools are participating as Illinois accelerated schools. The Illinois Network includes schools ranging in size from 200 to 1200 students from urban, suburban, and rural districts throughout the state. The schools encompass different grade configurations for K-8 (e.g., K-2, K-4, K-5, K-6, K-9, 3-5, 5-8.)

* Illinois Association of School Administrators Home Page
Since 1946 the IASA has offered Illinois school administrators the opportunity to join with colleagues throughout the state to improve the quality of public education in Illinois and to maintain the high standards of their profession. The state has been divided into 21 IASA Regions with each region scheduling regular meetings of its members and electing individuals to serve on the IASA Board of Directors and its six representative committees.

* Illinois Association of School Boards
The Illinois Association of School Boards is a voluntary organization of local boards of education dedicated to strengthening the public schools through local citizen control. Although not a part of state government, IASB is organized by member school boards as a not-for-profit association under authority granted by Article 23 of The Illinois School Code.

*Illinois Elementary School Association
The Illinois Elementary School Association is proud to serve the Elementary School Community. Over 600 member schools compete annually in 14 sports and activities sponsored by the IESA.

* Illinois Principals Association
The mission of the Illinois Principals Association is to promote and support the improvement of education through effective educational leadership.

* Illinois Problem Based Learning Network
The Center for Problem-Based Learning (CPBL) was established by the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy to engage in PBL research, information exchange, teacher training and curriculum development in K-16 educational settings.

* Illinois Scientific Literacy Network
The Illinois Scientific Literacy Network (ISLN) promotes a communication network, both human and technological, for sharing information about research & development in curriculum, instruction, and assessment in science, mathematics and technology in Illinois.

* Illinois State Board Of Education
The mission of the State Board of Education is to enable all Illinois students to become confident, self-sufficient and productive citizens. To this end, the Board establishes policies that systematically support an ever-changing, life-long learning process. Furthermore, it acts as an advocate, provider and broker of community, family and state resources and services that ensure the accomplishment of the State's goals for learning.

* National Council of Teachers of English
The National Council of Teachers of English, the world's largest subject-matter educational association, is devoted to improving the teaching of English and the language arts at all levels of education. Since 1911, NCTE has provided a forum for the profession, an array of opportunities for teachers to continue their professional growth throughout their careers, and a framework for cooperation to deal with issues that affect the teaching of English.

* The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development ASCD
An international, nonprofit, nonpartisan education association. It provides professional development in curriculum and supervision and it initiates and supports activities to provide educational equity for all students.

*AskERIC
ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) is a federally-funded national information system that provides, through its 16 subject-specific clearinghouses, associated adjunct clearinghouses, and support components, a variety of services and products on a broad range of education-related issues. AskERIC is the Internet-based education information service of the ERIC system, headquartered at the ERIC Clearinghouse on Information & Technology at Syracuse University.

* National Middle School Association's Home Page
National Middle School Association is dedicated to improving the educational experiences of young adolescents by providing vision, knowledge, and resources to all who serve them in order to develop healthy, productive, and ethical citizens.

* National Science Teachers Association
The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), founded in 1944 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is the largest organization in the world committed to promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all. NSTA's current membership of more than 53,000 includes science teachers, science supervisors, administrators, scientists, business and industry representatives, and others involved in science education.

* DASH --IIT -- Discovery Approach to Science enHancement
Illinois Institute of Technology's summer DASH Program is structured to give rising high school sophomores and juniors a chance to get involved in "hands on" science and engineering projects. It also introduces computer programming and communication skills.

* NCRL-North Central Regional Educational Laboratory
The North Central Regional Educational Laboratory (NCREL) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping schools--and the students they serve--reach their full potential. NCREL is one of ten Regional Educational Laboratories. They provide research-based resources and assistance to educators, policymakers, and communities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. NCREL's ultimate goal is to help their clients apply proven practices to create productive schools where all students can develop their skills and abilities.

* Pathways to School Improvement
A product of the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory in cooperation with the Regional Educational Laboratory network.

* Resource for Science Education Program
The Resource for Science Education (RSE) Program, funded by the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Education and Human Resources (EHR), brings visiting educators to the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) to interact with staff and scientists.

* Teacher Resource Center at Fermilab
Objective: To provide a preview collection of K-12 science materials and to act as a resource and clearinghouse of science education ideas.
