FINDING BOOKS

If you need more detailed information, find out if there
is a book on your topic. Use the library's online catalog UICCAT to
search for your subject.

Use the Library's online catalog UICCAT
to find items we own.
Perform a Boolean Search (use "and"
to combine terms) to find books about history topics. For instance:
Do a Subject search using the name of a historical
figure to find biographical information on that person. For instance:
Use an Author search to find books written by a specific
historian. For example:
If you're having trouble finding books on your topic, Ask
a Librarian for further assistance.

FINDING ARTICLES
|
|
Articles are a good way to find more recent information on your
subject. Search online and/or paper indexes on your subject to find
articles in popular magazines, newspapers, and scholarly journals.
|
The following databases are a good
place to start looking for articles on your topic. For a complete
list of online databases and indexes at UIC, go to the alphabetical
list of electronic resources page. If you need assistance using these online tools, ask a librarian to
help you.
NOTE: UIC does not own all of the journals and magazines
listed in the above indexes. Enter the name of the magazine or journal in UICCAT
and search by "Journal/Magazine Title" to see if the UIC Library owns the title you need.
