Circulation Periods

Science Library material may be borrowed according to the following schedule:

Books		Undergraduate students	4 weeks
		Graduate students	16 weeks
		Non-academic staff	8 weeks
		Faculty	16 weeks
		Alumni	4 weeks
		Reciprocal borrowers	4 weeks
Periodicals		UI patrons only
	- bound volumes		3 days
	- unbound issues		1 day
	- most recent issues	no circulation for one week after receipt
Documents, slides		UI patrons only	3 weeks
Microforms		do not circulate
Reserve materials		UI patrons only	2 hour, overnight, or 3 days, depending on material. Overnight items due within first hour Library is open on the due date.

Fines & Lost Book Charges

Overdue or lost Science Library material will be billed according to the following schedule:

Type of material		Fine
All journals		5.00 per day, per item
Reserve material
	- 2-hr & overnight	1.00 for first hour; .50 for each additional hour
	- 3-day	1.00 per day, per item
Lost materials		Any item overdue for more than 39 days is considered lost. The charge for lost material includes the standard replacement cost for the item, currently $75.00, any applicable fine, and a processing charge of $25.00 per item. The replacement cost will be refunded if the item is returned; fines and processing charges are not refundable.
