Retrieving Library Materials
- Library
staff at campus libraries retrieve books and journals from the stacks and
coordinate photocopying of materials for patrons with disabilities. To make
arrangements, see staff in person at the Circulation or Reference/Information
Desks, or contact them by phone or e-mail.

Library
staff will make every effort to retrieve items at the time they are requested.
Turnaround
time may vary depending upon the complexity and volume of a request. However,
delivery usually occurs within the same or next working day.
Research Assistance

Reference
Desk staff are available to provide basic research assistance.

Users
can also arrange an individual appointment with a librarian for in-depth
research assistance. Contact the Reference Department.
- For
patrons with hearing impairments, a sign language interpreter is available
at the Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago during regular hours (8:30am-5:
00pm) Mondays through Fridays. Appointments should be scheduled in advance
for this service. Contact LHS Information Services at 312-996-9163 to arrange an appointment.
Photocopying
Mediated Service: Users with disabilities can opt to have copies made
for them at no additional cost (seven cents per page for both standard and
enlarged copies). A UIC Flames copy card loaded with sufficient money should
be provided at the time of the request. The UIC Flames copy card can be purchased
in the library or other campus locations for an initial cost of $1.00. Turnaround
time for copying may vary depending upon the volume of a request. However,
delivery usually occurs within the same or next working day. To make arrangements,
see staff in person at the Circulation or Reference/Information Desks, or
contact them by phone or e-mail. Alternative arrangements
may be made for requests involving large quantities of copies
