27th Evacuation Hospital, 1942-1945
An Online Exhibit
Baccarat France (1944)
This building was a former military barracks.
It was converted to an evacuation hospital. The G.I. stove is used to make
the operating room comfortable as no other heat was available. Surgeons usually
operated in tents, although the 27th Evac used abandoned buildings, military
barracks, classrooms and hospitals when they were available.
