This collection contains a single series: UIMC Chancellor's Central Files (1936-1974). It contains records from the Vice President of the Chicago Professional Colleges and the Office of the Chancellor, University of Illinois at the Medical Center. The collection contains information on all of the major offices, colleges, departments for the medical center - to including reports, memoranda, policy statements, minutes, publications, programs and correspondence received from or sent to the President, Trustees, administrators, deans, faculty, students and the public. Subjects covered include (but are not limited to) the College of Medicine (to include the Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine as well as the regional sites in Peoria, Rockford, and Urbana), the College of Nursing (to include the regional sites), the College of Dentistry, the College of Pharmacy, the Graduate College, and the School of Public Health; relationships with the Urbana Campus, Circle Campus, the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and the State Government; special projects of the campus during the years covered; admissions and enrollment; affirmative action programs and civil rights; Argonne Labs; budget; building programs; Cook County Hospital; Evan's Report; Medical Center Senate and University Senate; Research and Education Hospital and the University of Illinois Hospital; Division of Services of Crippled Children; bills; campus unrest; commencements; Committees, to include Committee N; foundations; gifts, grants, and fundraising; Institute for Tuberculosis Research; library; and vice-presidents and vice chancellors.

This collection was deposited in two accessions (or deposits). One accession arrived in 1981 and was given the accession number of LHS 81-13. The second accession arrived in 1996 and was given the accession number of UA 96-06. The inventories for the two accession were combined and sorted alphabetically. However, the collections are still physically maintained in their original order.
LHS 81-13 was inventoried in 1981 and converted to electronic format in 2004. UA 96-06 was inventoried and converted to electronic format in 2005. The two inventories were combined in 2005.
