The Allen Porter papers include personal correspondence, photographs, greeting cards, clippings, brochures, advertisements, and an audio cassette tape, as well as items from institutions affiliated with Porter. Materials related to the International Council of Grapic Design Assocations (ICOGRADA), Institute of Design, Society of Typographic Arts, and the University of Illinois at Chicago include course outlines, minutes, reports, sketches, and clippings. These papers also include booklets, fliers, and postage stamps that commemorate the Bauhaus movement.

Biography of Allen Porter

Allen Porter (b. 1926) is a prominent graphic designer, photographer, teacher, and former student of the New Bauhaus/Institute of Design in Chicago. Porter has designed exhibitions, marketing communications, packaging, corporate presentations, and helped to construct new corporate identities. His work has been exhibited at the Bruce Silverstein Gallery in New York and the Robert Henry Adams Fine Arts Gallery in Chicago.
