Administrative History of CCCO

Founded in Chicago in the early 1960s, the Coordinating Council of Community Organizations (CCCO) was a civil rights organization dedicated to the reform of public school policy. While inspired by the poor educational opportunities offered to the city's African-American communities, the organization was a broad, bi-racial coalition. The organization' leadership included figures such as Al Raby, who went on to work with Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Chicago Freedom Movement, and among its volunteers was Jesse Jackson, future presidential candidate and founder of Operation PUSH.
