Biographical Sketch

David Sohnquist served with the Young Men's Christian Association (Y.M.C.A.) in England, France, Russia, and the Far East. Sohnquist served as Agricultural Secretary for the Y.M.C.A.'s mission in Siberia. Some notable highlights of his tour included a rail journey from Vladivostok to Omsk, study of the Chinese language in Peking, and a visit to Korea. David Sohnquist spent considerable time in the cities of Tomsk, Novo-Nik, and Irktusk. His work also took him to the Philippines and Hawaii. Sohnquist took hundreds of photographs showing notable places in England, wartime devastation in France, rural life in China and Korea, as well as interesting scenes that captured living conditions for a wide variety of people in Siberia during the Russian Civil War.
