Biographical Sketch

Gretchen Leppke was an activist for women's issues in the Lutheran Church and president of the Lutheran Women's Caucus from 1980 to 1985. She co-founded the "Women, Ministry, and the City" program, based at the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University, with Rosemary Radford Ruether. The program sent women seminarians from nine Chicago area seminaries to inner-city ministries for an intensive eight-week summer session. She was also involved with Chicago's Women of Faith Resource Center.
