Part of the Jane Addams Memorial Collection. Julia B. Longstreet (1885-1970) was an active member of the Chicago social service community. She was a member of the University of Chicago Settlement League and the Chicago Woman's Club, and vice-president of the Children's Scholarship League (later the Scholarship and Guidance Association). The collection contains correspondence, minutes, financial records, case records, and annual reports of the Scholarship and Guidance Association.

Biography of Julia B. Longstreet

Julia B. Longstreet was an active Chicago clubwoman and philanthropist. She belonged to the Chicago Woman's Club, sat on the boards of the University of Chicago Settlement League and the Illinois State Council of Parent-Teachers Associations, and was vice-president of the Children's Scholarship League (later known as the Scholarship and Guidance Association). Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Longstreet resided in Hyde Park with her husband, David W. Longstreet who was vice president of the Illinois Central Railroad. Julia B. Longstreet passed away on April 16, 1970 in her winter home in Delray Beach, Florida at the age of ninety-five.
