SPECIAL COLLECTIONS REFERENCE SERVICES
This page contains basic information concerning
Departmental
procedures. Researchers should contact the Department in advance
of their visit
to discuss their research project. An appointment is
encouraged so
the Department's staff can assist researchers more
effectively.
Hours

The reading room is open Monday-Friday, 10 am - 4:30 pm. At 4:15 pm, paging and photocopying services stop and researchers are asked to begin finishing up their day's work. The Department is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Reference

Reference services are provided to researchers in person, over
the telephone,
through the mail, and via e-mail.
Use
-
Special Collections materials are available in the Department's Reading
Room located on the south end of the 3rd floor in room 3-330 of the
R.J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Patrons will be
provided with a copy the department's
Rules Governing the Use of Materials
to read and sign. The Special Collections Department observes U.S. copyright
laws and expects users to adhere to copyright laws when using copyrighted materials.

Research services by Special Collections staff is not available.
Paging (Retrieving) Materials

Special Collections materials are stored in a variety of
locations. Some materials require special arrangements and/or several work days
to retrieve. Researchers should call ahead and allow sufficient time
for their research projects. Materials will not be paged after 4:30pm.
