Library Faculty Committees
Lectures & Forums
Charge to the Committee
The Library Faculty Lectures and Forums Committee is responsible for
providing or facilitating an array of professional development activities
for the faculty and professional associates. These activities may include
invited colloquia, lectures, workshops, and informal discussions. They
provide an opportunity to learn about developments in the library
community as well
as a chance to share ideas with colleagues. In addition, the committee
functions as coordinator for programs sponsored by other faculty
committees and groups.
The Library Faculty Lectures and Forums Committee shall consist of five
members, elected for staggered two-year terms, three members in
odd-numbered years and two in even-numbered years. A vacated seat will be
filled by the candidate who received the next highest number of votes in
the most recent election. The committee shall elect its chair from its
membership each year. One resident and one professional associate shall
be appointed to the committee annually as ex officio members through a
selection process within each of those groups.
While committee member terms run September to August, the committee will
plan a steady calendar of events for January to December.
The committee's duties shall include:
- To coordinate and publicize a program of public lectures, workshops,
and
informal discussions on recent conferences, on-going research, and other
topics of interest.
- To assist the University Librarian in the preparations for the Nakata
Lecture.
- To document committee discussions and to transmit to future
committees
suggestions on topics and speakers.
- To report to the faculty at the faculty meeting.
