Teaching Documentation

Tips on Developing a Portfolio
(from volunteers who tested the project):

  • Reflect on your teaching to continue improving it.

  • Start the portfolio early and work on it consistently.

  • Talk to other teaching librarians to share ideas, to get advice, to consider issues.

  • Although the promotion and tenure evaluations require some uniformity of presentation, the portfolio documents should reflect each librarian's own teaching, perspectives, growth process.

  • Balance time for teaching and research and service.

  • Use only as much of the bibliography as you need.

  • Review P&T criteria for how teaching documentation will be assessed [in process]
