UIC Library Web Style Guide

In 2006 UIC's Department of Marketing Communications published a set of UIC Campus Identity Standards, including official colors, fonts, and logos to be used in all campus communications. The Web Oversight Committee is the Library's body for ensuring compliance with these standards on our Web pages. This guide is designed to help Library staff comply with the standards when creating new pages or editing existing ones.

In addition, the Illinois Board of Higher Education mandated in 2004 that each public university report on Web accessiblity at their institution. UIC has three priority levels for units on campus; the Library's pages are a first-level (high) priority and should be made as accessible as possible. Without a complete site redesign, this is difficult. During the move to a content management system (CMS), more accessibility issues will be successfully addressed. However, in the meantime, page creators and editors should use accepted Web HTML and CSS standards whenever possible. More information can be found at the Web Accessibility Best Practices site from UIUC.

Included in this Style Guide are:

Please address any questions you have to the Web Oversight Committee.
