Library Academic and
Support Staff Employees and Their Supervisors
On May 25, 2005, Patricia Gill,
Interim Assistant Vice-President for Human Resources, sent out a memo
concerning the employee review process and development planning
process. The memo stated that you are only required to complete
the Evaluation Review process.
However, the University Library is
following the procedures established last year. We are requiring
that both processes be completed for 2005 (Evaluation Review and Action
Plan/Goals Component). Completed forms are due to Library
Personnel by Friday, July 15, 2005.
Please call Library Personnel (6-7353)
if you have any questions.

What's happening under the Daley Library
Escalator?
|
The Casper Oasis under the
escalator on the first floor of the Daley Library is beginning to take
shape. It is destined to be an area of refuge, relief, and pleasant
contrast compared to our usual concrete, high-ceilinged and bustling
surroundings.
The goal of UIC’s Project Oasis is
to provide “a learning-friendly environment” on campus.
Several locations have been transformed from cold and minimally
functional space to areas that welcome students, staff and visitors
with comfortable furniture, good lighting, and a pleasant atmosphere.
See the Project Oasis Web page
for before-and-after photos of several renovated areas on the east and
west campuses.
The Casper Oasis will be decorated with
reproductions of prints and other graphic works from Mr. Casper’s
collection and will have a continuous video featuring items in the UIC
Library’s special collections. Mrs. Gladys Casper, who also gave
us the Richard F. Casper Military History Collection and other gifts,
provided the funding for the renovation and furniture; the
campus’ Project Oasis fund matched Mrs. Casper’s gift.
