EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH
The Employee of the Month Committee is pleased to announce its choice of Manaseh Wade, LC III, as employee of the month for May 2005.

Manaseh demonstrates a thorough understanding of his job and always performs his duties in a professional manner. He works the evening shift and has shown good judgment and ability to work without close supervision. He provides excellent service to patrons. They have remarked on his knowledge, helpfulness, and patience. Manaseh has the expertise to convey to patrons the various library policies due to his previous employment as a student employee in several other library units. Manaseh's dedication to continued good quality of service is an asset to his department and the Library.

RETIREMENT
Nancy R. John, Assistant University Librarian, is retiring effective June 30, 2005, after 27 years of university service. The Library wishes Nancy well in her future endeavors and is grateful for her many contributions and accomplishments during her tenure at UIC.

RESIGNATION
Mary Berta, Director of Business and Financial Operations, has resigned her position in the University Library. Mary starts her new position as Assistant to the Head for Business Operations in the Occupational Therapy Department on West Campus starting July 7, 2005. Mary has worked at the Library since Aug. 9, 1993. Her last day of work at Daley will be June 24, 2005.

The Lectures and Forums Committee is pleased to sponsor a post-ALA Brown Bag on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at noon in Meeting Room A of the Behavioral Sciences Building. Please join us for what should be a lively discussion about the conference.

SPOTLIGHT ON: CIRLA Fellows Program
Georgetown University encourages MLS candidates to apply now for the Summer/Fall 2005 CIRLA Fellows Program. Designed to increase the diversity of the library profession and recruit the next generation of librarians, the program is funded by an IMLS grant to Georgetown. Fellows receive a wide range of benefits, including mentoring and placement in a one-year, paid, post-MLS professional position in a CIRLA library. The CIRLA Fellows Program is a joint project of the Chesapeake Information and Research Library Alliance and ARL.

CMLS Workshops

UIC staff interested in attending any workshop must first secure permission from their supervisor to attend and justify why the library should pay for their participation. The request requires review by the University Librarian, who will make the final decision.

CRL

A consortium of North American universities, colleges, and independent research libraries acquiring and preserving traditional and digital resources for research and teaching, making them available to member institutions through interlibrary loan and electronic delivery.

ICCMP
