Resignation

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Teaching Support and Documentation Commitee
The Teaching Support and Documentation Committee (TSDC) will be sponsoring a full-day workshop on developing learning outcomes given by Deb Gilchrist. The workshop will focus on how to determine and develop learning outcomes for classes that each UIC Library department currently (or would like to) teach. It is highly recommended that all library faculty with teaching responsibilities attend.

Ms. Gilchrist is a nationally renowned expert on learning outcomes and is a faculty member of the Association of College and Research Library’s Information Literacy Immersion Program. She is currently Dean of Library and Media Services at Pierce College in Washington State. In 2005, Pierce College Library was awarded ACRL’s Excellence in Academic Libraries Award.

TSDC would like to thank Mary Case for her generous assistance in making this workshop possible.

Daley Mail Room Reminder
All outgoing US Mail and UPS items must be brought down to the mail room by 11:30 a.m. to ensure same-day shipment. Outgoing items arriving after 11:30 a.m. will be shipped the next business day. If you have any questions, please e-mail Library Facilities.

Building Evacuation
An evacuation drill of the Richard J. Daley Library will take place at 11 a.m.,Wednesday, Aug. 2. All staff, faculty, students and patrons are required to leave the building when the alarm sounds. All staff should proceed to Lecture Hall A1 and wait until instructed to return to the library.

Priority will be given to support staff supervisors required to attend in the probationary period. Each session will be offered twice during the calendar year. A current schedule of sessions is available on the Library Human Resources Web site.

Reminders
Please remember to terminate student employees who will either be graduating or will not be returning to work this fall. Termination forms are available by calling Library HR at 6-7353 or by sending an e-mail to request the form.

all school/work schedules for staff should be sent to Library HR for review and approval. Library HR will forward to Administration for final approval.

The discount rate is $245 for the 3-day event. (No discount rates are available for the pre-conference seminars and workshops.) In addition, discount prices of $169 on the Internet@Schools conference (Oct. 23-24, 2006) and $245 for the combo of the Internet Librarian Conference and Internet@Schools (Oct. 23-25, 2006) are also available.

To receive this discount, please submit your registration form with payment. Registrations must be received by Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 to receive the discount.

CARLI
On July 1, 2005, ICCMP, IDAL, and ILCSO merged to become the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI). 2005-2006 will be a transition year for the new organization during which an integrated CARLI website will be developed. Until the transition is complete, please continue to consult this website and those of CARLI, IDAL, and ILCSO.

CIC

CRL
