Student Minimum Requirements for Employment
Library Aide II- Previous library work experience or substantial experience in using a library or experience in a work setting dealing with the public or with computers or overall GPA of 4.00 or freshman honors standing.
Library Assistant- One academic year (2 semesters) experience as a Library Aide II or the equivalent experience off campus.
All applications must include work history and references. ADA question should be asked of all students at time of interview.
If you need applications or have any questions, please call Library Human Resources at 6-7353.
Students will not be able to work until they have been cleared for employment by Student Employment. Library Human Resources will contact the supervisor on approvals.

Daley Forum
The second annual Richard J. Daley Urban Forum will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in Student Center East. This year’s topic is “Globalizing Cities: Chicago and the World.” The forum will feature internationally prominent speakers and panelists on the challenges and opportunities that globalization poses for major urban areas and the people who live in them. More specifics, including information about registration, will be forthcoming in February. Pre-registration is required; the $25 registration fee will be waived for UIC students, faculty, and staff.

ARL Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce
Applications for stipends to support graduate study in library and information science in 2006-08 are now available from the ARL Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce. Funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the program offers a stipend of up to $10,000 (over two years). The Initiative also offers a mentoring relationship with an experienced librarian and a leadership training curriculum for MLS students from underrepresented groups interested in careers in research libraries.
