MINUTES
|
|
CIRCWRKS Minutes, 09/14/04
CIRCWRKS meeting Sept. 14, 2004
Present: Daniels (Rockford), Daugherty, Davis (Peoria), Guss, Hunter,
Loftiss (Urbana), Mulhim (recording) Odegaard (presiding)
The schedule of CIRCWRK meetings for 2005 was distributed.
The minutes of the August meeting were approved.
Patron file load: Lisa has been working on data from sources found by
Daugherty but had to supply some essential information (patrons
barcode number) from other sources as that was not present in the data
received from Banner. The first test of a load failed.
We will be matching for duplicates on the UIN. If putting patron records
into Voyager by hand, the expiration date for fall semester is June
28, 2005 and the purge date is June 28, 2006. Faculty and staff should
be given an expiration date one year from the date we enter or update
the record.
E-mail notices: Daley and Peoria reported problems; Daleys may
have to do with the local SMTP server and will be reported to Library
Systems. Peoria is using the ILCSO server and will report problems to
ONCALL. OLeary is working on ways to view e-mail notices after
they are sent.
UB charging problems: these usually result in a message beginning: An
error prevents. . . . Sometimes the item can be charged from the
patrons request screen; in these cases the due date will have
to be recovered by the patron from MyAccount.
Kilian suggested discharging from the hold screen and recharging.
ILCSO is aware of most of the problems and has provided some guidance,
which was forwarded to CIRCWRKS-the-Listserv. Daugherty recommended
that we continue reporting questions and checking with ILCSO; Kilian
is keeping track of those reported to the DRU.
PDQ
1. General Circulation Services web page: this was assigned by ERQ to
CIRCWRKS and is in process (it was put up on Monday 11/29).
2. Lisas list formally (and formerly) known as List of
NOTIS Programming Tasks: PDQ enquired what requests are currently from
CIRCWRKS: patron file load, monthly statistics and status reports; weekly
Bursar Transfer file from Voyager to Banner. PDQ will prioritize this
and other items and refer to Systems/Lisa.
3. Patron forms on line:
Faculty authorization request form is up; it must be printed and sent.
Forms for various requests (items in process or on
order are in preparation.
Patron Information update form is in process.
4. Ethic training: the deadline for taking University ethics training
and passing the quiz is Oct. 9, 2004 deadline.
Unit reports/questions:
Peoria reported problems with charge location/item type and Rockford
with blocks on operator Ids; both were referred to Mulhim for checking
in SysAdmin. Mulhim will send procedure for Missing to Daniels &
copy Mantzakides. (Someone verify, please?)
Reserves: Hunter reported that the latest version of e-Res went live
on September 1st and training is being scheduled.
