Core Members

Dr. Michael L. Berbaum, Director 
Dr. Berbaum is a member of the Institute for Health Research and Policy. He has provided statistical support to numerous investigators in health and community prevention studies throughout his career. His expertise includes: Observational studies, experimental design, power analysis, longitudinal data analysis and ROC analysis.

Dr. Hui Xie, Research Scientist
Dr. Xie received his PhD in Statistics from Columbia University in 2003. Prior to that, he received his MS in Statistics from Purdue University in 2000 and his BS in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Beijing University in 1997.
His expertise includes: Late Phase clinical studies; longitudinal data; missing data; and Bayesian methods.

Weihua Gao, Assistant Director for Consultative Services
Ms. Gao received her MS in Biostatistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2004. Prior to that, she received her BS in Industrial & Civil Engineering from JiLin Institute of Technology, Changchung, China, in 1998.
Her expertise includes: sample size determination and power analysis, study design, data analysis and data management.

Hajwa Kim, Biostatistician
Ms. Kim received her MS in Biostatistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2010. She also received her MA in Communication from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 2002. Her experience includes working as a market research project manager in Seoul, Korea from 2003 to 2006.
Her expertise includes: REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture); sample size determination and power analysis; study design; data analysis; and data management.
