Confocal Microscopy Facility (RRC/CMF)

Two Zeiss confocal microscopes are available: LSM 510 and LSM 510 META. They are designed for the analysis of living or fixed biological specimens of varying thickness. Both microscopes can scan through a sample and obtain one or more high-resolution optical sections, and then render a 3D reconstruction of the sample. The time-lapse imaging function can be used for kinetic studies of live cells with GFP, calcium indicator, FRAP applications, etc.

The instruments are located in RRC-West. The contact person is Mei Ling Chen, email: mlchen@uic.edu, (312) 996-6640.

For more information on the Confocal Microscopy Facility, please contact us at ttrc@uic.edu , or go to the main RRC/CMF page.
