Timothy Johnson, PhD
Director
Professor Johnson's main areas of expertise include survey methodology and health behaviors in disadvantaged populations. Within the field of survey methodology, his work has focused primarily on sources of measurement and non response error.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Evaluation and Tracking program within CCTS is focused on the utilization, quality, and productivity of our activities. Feedback from CCTS investigators, along with long-term parameters of quality and productivity, such as the number of publications emanating from and the number of extramural grants awarded to CCTS supported projects, will be tracked. Data collection and analysis systems will be constructed so that the CCTS will be able to document success or failure of all programmatic activities, including the potential causes or reasons for success or failure. These will be used in shaping our internal processes as well as in continuous feedback to the CCTS Leadership and all Core Directors.
Main objectives of the Evaluation and Tracking program |
Develop a program of tracking and evaluation for CCTS activities. |
Construct data collection and analysis systems necessary to provide timely evaluation reporting to CCTS leadership. |
Integrate national evaluation data standards and requirements into local CCTS data collection systems. |

STAFF MEMBERS
Timothy Johnson, Professor and Director of the Survey Research Laboratory
Dr. Johnson received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Kentucky. He has extensive experience in survey methodology, including measurement error due to cultural variability in the cognitive processing of survey questions, an area in which much of his work has been invested over the past decade. He has invested considerable effort in examining the health behaviors of disadvantaged populations. Among the disadvantaged populations he has worked with are homeless persons, immigrants, cultural minorities, criminal justice populations and mental health populations. Some of the health behaviors he has examined among these populations include cancer screening, nutrition, physical activity, tobacco use, alcohol consumption and drug abuse.
