The UIC COM Medical Alumni Council was established in 2005 to increase alumni-student interaction and improve alumni connections to the College. We look forward to sharing exciting alumni updates and campus activities welcoming your participation.

Council Activities

June 23, 2007 - The Medical Alumni Council sponsored and presented white coats to third year medical students at the annual Student Clinician Ceremony. Council members John Mason Jr. MD '55, Vice Chair and David Mayer MD '82 were on hand to present white coats to students. See photos.

May 11, 2007 - Council members participated in the Class of 2007 Commencement Ceremonies. Council members marched in the commencement procession and were on hand for to welcome the latest COM graduates into the UIC COM alumni family. See photos.

March 15, 2007 - The Medical Alumni Council presented the Class of 2007 a message of congratulations and a small gift on Match Day. See photos.

December 8, 2006 - Council members gathered for quarterly Medical Alumni Council meeting. Prior to meeting, members served students at the annual Student Holiday Lunch. See photos.

September 28 and 29, 2006 – Council chair Milt Kramer, MD ’54 and vice chair John Mason, MD ’55, joined the classes of ’41, ’46, ’51, ’56, ’61, ’66, ’71, ’76 and ’81 for the annual College of Medicine Reunion. Member Javette Orgain, MD ’81 celebrated with fellow class of 1981 alumni and spoke on behalf of the council to over 250 alumni and guests. See photos.

August 15 and 19, 2006 - The Medical Alumni Council participated in the 2006 M1 Orientation and White Coat Ceremony. See photos.

June 24, 2006 – Council chair Milton Kramer, MD '54, vice chair John Mason, MD '55, member James Grant, MD '54 and member David Mayer, MD '78 participated in the Student Clinician Ceremony. John Mason and David Mayer assisted in distributing new white coats to the Class of 2008 to mark this key educational milestone.

April 18, 2006 - Council member Adrienne Segovia, MD '90 greeted and congratulated med students at the annual UIC COM Honors Day Luncheon.

Winter 2005 - Look for our new regular feature in UIC Medicine Magazine!

September 15, 2005 – Council member, John Mason, MD ’55, welcomed 140+ reunion alumni and shared highlights of alumni volunteer opportunities. Dr. Mason also presented a booklet with contributions from reunion alumni “Advice to Today’s Medical Students” to the Chicago Medical Student Council members. This booklet was later distributed to all COM students.

August 12, 2005 - The Council held its inaugural session and welcomed the Class of 2009 to the University of Illinois during Orientation week.

Your participation can take shape in many forms such as sharing residency and career advice to students, spending a morning interviewing applicants or mentoring a student at your practice.
