Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE) Summary Performance Category Calculation Process

The calculation is based on objective, standarized tests including:

• USMLE Step 1 , first attempt (50% weight in calculation)
• Weighted NBME Subject Examination score, first attempt, for the six core clerkhips (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Surgery) (50% weight in calculation)

The category is calculated in comparison with peers in the class at the four sites of the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

The Summary Performance Categories are: Outstanding; Excellent; Very Good; and Good.
