Visiting appointments for faculty in the College of Medicine must have a duration of no greater than one year (12 months) from the time of the initial hire.
Faculty who are being appointed to senior status (associate professor or professor) in all tracks, both tenure and non-tenure, must undergo a full review by the appropriate college committees within the one-year limit.
Visiting appointments for faculty who will be paid entirely from soft funds may be made for up to three years (36 months) with prior approval of the Dean's Office. This exception does not apply to faculty who will be proposed for tenure; appropriate steps must be taken to complete the permanent appointment of such faculty within the one-year limit.
