Office of Faculty Affairs : Faculty of the Year Nomination and Processing Guidelines

GUIDELINES

All full time and part time faculty of the College of Medicine are eligible for this honor. While College administrators and Department Heads are eligible, strong cases must be presented for their receiving the award.

Any College of Medicine faculty member may make a nomination. The impact of the nominee's achievements does not need to have occurred in the year of the award.

Nominations should be made each Spring at each College of Medicine site. A strong letter of support describing the nominee's accomplishments, and a current CV should be submitted to the Faculty of the Year Award selection committee at the appropriate College of Medicine site. Additional endorsement from the head -- when not the nominator -- is strongly recommended.  All nominations must be made prior to the selection committee's meeting. Previously nominated faculty members, who did not receive the award, can be re-nominated with an updated letter and CV. One nomination from each site will be reviewed by the College Committee on Faculty Awards.

All information, with the exception of the curriculum vitae, should be in narrative form.

Criteria

Excellence in any or all of the areas listed below. (These areas as listed are not in order of priority):

• Recognition for outstanding teaching, clinical or research performance.
• Special effectiveness in curriculum or instructional material development.
• Special achievement in University leadership or national/regional society
  organization or administration.
• Receipt of a prestigious national recognition that reflects positively on the
  College of Medicine or the University
