Applying for Financial Aid at the College of Medicine
   (CHICAGO   PEORIA    ROCKFORD   CHAMPAIGN-URBANA)

Financial assistance for medical students is available. To apply for federal, state and institutional funds, you must complete the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Renewal FAFSA. You can complete the FAFSA electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The Renewal FAFSA is only available on the Internet. To complete the Renewal FAFSA you must use your U.S. Department of Education Personal Identification Number (PIN), which the federal processor mailed or emailed to you if you completed a 2007-2008 FAFSA.  You can obtain a duplicate PIN at  www.pin.ed.gov.

Priority Processing Date - MARCH 1

The FAFSA must be received by the federal processor by March 1 for priority consideration. Applicants for admission to the College of Medicine as well as continuing students whose applications are received by the federal processor after March 1 will be considered for aid, but all funds may not be available and payment of funds may not occur during the first week of class. Also, there is a file complete deadline (usually in early April) that must be met for priority consideration.

A Special Note About Parental Information:

If you want to be considered for the Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students (SDS), and/or the Primary Care Loan (M4s only), you must provide parental information on the FAFSA and submit the 2008-2009 Parental Information Form to the financial aid office by August 1, 2008. By submitting this form a student is not forfeiting his/her status as an independent student and his/her eligibility to receive other federal or state financial aid funds.  You must also submit a copy of your parents' 2007 U.S. Tax Return form in order to be considered for the Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students or the Primary Care Loan. The form can be downloaded from this website.
