September of each year, the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine-UHP conducts the Health Careers Opportunity Program Club (HCOP-C). UHP-HCOP in conjunction with Chicago State University, will provide an opportunity for (50) students to experience opportunities in health and biomedical careers. Participants will be provided monthly field trips, mini-workshops, roundtable and panel discussions, focusing on topics related to a wide variety of health and biomedical careers. Topics will cover academic requirements and career opportunities (Medicine, Osteopathy, Veterinary Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy, Podiatry, and Public Health), biomedical careers and Masters/Ph.D. Programs. Structured hands-on clinical and laboratory experiences will be planned.
Must be from an economically disadvantaged background, denoted as one who comes from a family with an annual income below a level based on low-income threshold according to family size, published by the U.S. Bureau of the Census; AND
