The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine- UHP conducts a six-week Health Careers Opportunity Program Summer Academy (HCOP-SA). COM-UHP will provide (30) high school students an opportunity to prepare for standardized college entrance examinations (PSAT and ACT). Participants selected are divided into two groups relative to high school educational levels (Groups I- 9th and 10th grades; Group II- 11th and 12th grades.) Each group is provided with six-weeks of academic skills, intensive reviews of reading comprehension, vocabulary building, math (algebra and geometry), skills enhancement and basic science reviews. Additionally, participants will participate in workshops to enhance skills in study, test-taking and time management.
Must be from an economically disadvantaged background, denoted as one who comes from a family with an annual income below a level based on low-income threshold according to family size, published by the U.S. Bureau of the Census; AND
