Wednesdays are academic days at the University of Illinois for all residents. Activities consist of textbook reviews, journal clubs, pathology sessions, staff conferences, and lectures from attending faculty and guest speakers in dermatology and other fields.

Residents who are rotating at the ancillary institutions staff the dermatology clinics and have experiences in surgery and pathology at these institutions. These various rotations expose the residents to diverse patient populations and allows them to observe various attendings' therapeutic and practice styles.

Residents at all institutions are also responsible for teaching medical students and residents from other disciplines. Other activities include a yearly in-service examination for self-evaluation, the monthly Chicago Dermatologic Society meetings, and 20 University of Illinois staff conferences per year.
