Stipends (2008-2009)
The UIC Graduate Medical Education Committee has approved annual stipends for the 2007-2008 academic year as follows:
PGY1 Residents $44,700
PGY2 Residents $46,680
PGY3 Residents $48,720
Other resident benefits include:
- Four weeks (28 days) of paid vacation in each post graduate year
- Five additional days available in second and third year for educational conferences, workshops, seminars
- $600 educational support (CME funds) available in second and third year
- Eligibility for comprehensive health care and dental care coverage (nominal monthly fee)
- Supplemental stipend for partial coverage of dependents enrolled in health care/dental care plan
- Enrollment in the tax-deferred State University Retirement System (SURS)
- Long-term disability coverage
- Life insurance benefit of one year's stipend
- Professional liability insurance while performing educational duties
- Family/Personal leave
- Employee Assistance Services for counseling and referral services
- Lab coats and scrubs and free laundry service
- Meals provided when on in-house call
- Access to campus-based child care
- Paid certification courses in ALSO and re-certification in ACLS
- Access to online medical resources
- Access to medical library including the AAFP Essentials Home Study Manuals
- Access to UIC graduate courses, with tuition waived for residents
- Options for training in the School of Public Health, including Master's in Public Health, Master's in Health Professionals Education, and others
