There are no
co-pays for covered student health services. Each
enrolled student pays a mandatory health fee at the
time of registration that covers basic services, including
routine/acute visits with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners
or Nurses; routine office based labs and health education
services

Center is located at 2 locations: University Village, 722 West Maxwell, and in the Outpatient Care Center on
the West Campus, 1801 W. Taylor, Suite 2A.

Can
I make an appointment to use your services?
The Family Medicine
Center operates by appointment only.
Call our center
at (312) 996-2901 to schedule an appointment.
Do I
have to pay for my medications or lab tests?
A select number
of prescriptions will be covered at no charge or for
a small co-pay under Student Health. These medications
are limited to a select list of oral contraceptives,
acute pain medications, and antibiotics for acute
infections and sexually transmitted diseases.
To receive no
charge or co-pay prescriptions under Student Health,
prescriptions must be filled at the Eye and Ear Infirmary
Pharmacy, at 1855 W. Taylor Street, or at the UIC Pharmacy in University Village, 722 W. Maxwell Street.
Some basic office
labs and STI screening for at-risk patients are provided
at no cost when received at the Family Medicine Center.
Can
my spouse, child or domestic partner be seen as a
patient at the Family Medicine Center?
Yes, we would
be happy to provide care to your family and will bill
your family's private insurance for services provided.
All non-covered services will be the responsibility
of the patient or guardian.
Can
I get my required immunizations at the Family Medicine
Center?
Yes, the Family
Medicine Center will provide required immunizations
to you. Any immunizations not covered under Student
Health will be billed to the student's
private health insurance if a covered benefit. If not, payment is expected prior to vaccine administration.
What
type of birth control services do you offer?
We offer education
and counseling on all birth control options. We will
assist you in obtaining your method of choice.
There is a select
list of birth control pills which are covered when
care is received at the Family Medicine Center and
the prescription is written by one of our physicians.
After one required yearly contraceptive care visit,
students can receive an entire semester's supply for
each semester they have coverage. Appointments to
discuss oral contraceptive care can be made by calling
the Family Medicine Center at 6-2901. There is a small
co-pay required for oral contraceptives.
