Our Neighborhood

Located in the Near West Side of Chicago, the Illinois Medical District (IMD) is the nation's largest urban medical district. This world–class medical environment is the home of the University of Illinois Medical Center, as well as three other major medical centers, and the nation's largest medical school — University of Illinois College of Medicine.

The Family Medicine residents, faculty and staff members work in the epicenter of this advanced health care neighborhood. In addition to the multitude of healthcare, educational and biotechnical institutions, the Illinois Medical District offers an array of restaurants, emerging retail centers and residential areas. This vibrant neighborhood also provides convenient access to major expressways and public transportation, including the elevated/subway train (the 'L').
