| Campbell was born in New South Wales Australia, eventually studied medicine in Edinburgh but early on gained recognition in pathology having done postgraduate work with Krafft-Ebing in Vienna and later on studied in Prague. He will be remembered for his major publication "Histological Studies on the Localization of Cerebral Function" a classic- and Campbell’s map of the human brain can be seen in nearly every well known textbook on neuroanatomy. He is also known for his contributions to the knowledge of cerebral sclerosis and herpes zoster. | ![]() |
