Born in Freyberg Czechoslovakia, Freud was influenced by Goethe’s "Die Nature" to enter the field of medicine. While at the University of Vienna, he worked with Bruck (1814-1892) in histology of the nervous system. Later he worked in anatomy at the Allgemein Krankenhaus where he eventually qualified as a neuropathologist. Later he gravitated to Charcot in Paris, but he returned to Vienna to become professor of neuropathology in 1919. In this field he excelled in his studies on cerebral on dyslogia.He is the founder of psychoanalysis, his monumental work.
