| Grinkler was born in Prussia but was brought to the U.S. at the age of 15. He graduated in medicine at the New York Medical College in 1891. Eventually he went to Vienna to study pathology with Heinrich Obersteiner (1847-1922) but he returned to Chicago as a clinical neurologist. He wrote effusively on neurological subjects, and also published 8 papers on psychiatric subjects. He introduced Luminal (phenobarbital) to the United States in 1913. | ![]() |
