| Born in France he studied medicine and was an attending at the Bicêtre and later at the Salt Salpêtriere eventually taking the chair of comparative histology at the College de France. He worked with tabes, and made special studies of the radial nerves in tabetus. Together with Babinski they created the Babinski-Nageotte syndrome and together they wrote a book on cerebro spinal fluid. He made intensive study on nerve fibers, anatomic and degenerative in nature. He did considerable research on the myelin sheath both clinically and chemically. He also did considerable work on connective tissue. He was also a talented and cultured devotee of classical literature. | ![]() |
