DR. JEAN ATHANSE SICARD
(1872-1929)

Born in France, it was there where he elected to study medicine. Eventually, he had the benefit to train with Emil du Bois Raymond, Brissaud and Trosier. Secard was expert with injections such as in trigeminal neuralgia. He was one of the first to allow interest in pneumoencephalography. He researched on syphilis and sequelae of encephalitis lethargica. He will be remembered as the one who introduced radio-apaque iodized oil (lipiodol).
