Research: B. Roitberg, M.D.

Research Interests:

  • Neurosurgical critical care; ICU outcomes
  • Neuroregeneration
  • Neuroprotection
  • Brain repair for Stroke and Parkinson's
  • Neural transplantation

Studies:

Human Neural Precursor Cells Stroke Model Precursor Cells to Study Migration of Human Neural Precursor Cells:
Dr. Roitberg and his colleagues have developed a stroke model. The next step is to study the characteristics of the cells after transplantation and to see if they cause improvement in function as proven by MRI imaging and behavioral tests.

Neurosurgical Intensive Care Quality and Outcomes:
Three multidisciplinary studies led by Dr. Roitberg on (1) Cardiac effects of subarachnoid hemorrhage (2) Effect of intensive prophylactic care on prevention of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, and (3) Rapid reversal of coagulopathy in surgical candidates on coumadin therapy.
