The Department of Physiology and Biophysics sponsors two major seminar programs: The weekly departmental seminar series, and the Colloquium on Cellular Signaling, which is held approximately monthly. These seminars are presented by outstanding speakers from around the world. The department also instituted Work in Progress Seminars on Friday afternoons during the regular school year. These are very informal 30 min presentation by two investigators in the department.
The
rich research environment in Chicago also offers extensive opportunities for
members of the department to attend seminars presented by leading researchers.
Members of the department can also attend seminars of interest presented in
other departments and institutions. Information regarding seminars at UIC, Rush,
Loyola, University of Chicago, Northwestern, and Chicago Medical School are
posted and easily available from the WEB. There are also seminars given in association
with inter-university interactions for example, the Chicago Cytoskeletal Club
(CCC) and Signal Transduction Club of Chicago.
