The research interest of my laboratory is to understand the molecular mechanisms of the initiation step of vascular diseases such as thrombosis and inflammation. We are currently focusing on the role of protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) in integrin-mediated platelet and leukocyte functions. These studies will be performed mainly using multi-fluorescence intravital microscopy to monitor expression kinetics of target molecules at the site of vascular injury in various knockout mice. A better understanding of the molecular mechanism of the initiation of vascular diseases could lead to the development of effective therapeutics for the prevention in vascular diseases.
